ET66 Calculator $49.00 Add to Cart
The ET66 calculator from Braun, designed by Dieter Rams and Dietrich Lubs in 1987, is an icon of modern design. In the humble instrument, the designers synthesized some of Rams' best design principles, creating a reductive, uncomplicated interface with the user's needs solely in mind.

Long after the calculator went out of production, it would gain renewed fame when serving as the inspiration for Apple's calculator app in the first iPhone. It has been in high demand ever since, with vintage models fetching over $150 on eBay. Recognizing this strong desire for Rams' designs, Braun has finally reissued the the ET66, with the first new production hitting stores in August, 2013.

One could argue that the need for a calculator is nonexistent today, given all of our smart phones already have the functionality baked in. But if you've ever sat at your desktop and had to make simple calculations on the fly, you'll know how curiously annoying it is to both access and use a calculator app. What you really need is a device that sits on the table within arm's reach, doesn't need to be picked up or unlocked, and is ready to begin calculating in a fraction of a second. Add to that the distinct tactility of convex buttons, its workhorse appearance, and durable casing, and you've got yourself a desktop companion that you'll be using for years to come.
