'Disconnect from Desire', the eagerly anticipated sophomore album from Brooklyn's dreamscape "nu-gaze" trio School of Seven Bells, was produced by the band's Benjamin Curtis and was recorded in their home studio. Heavily influenced by the pioneering 80's band The Cocteau Twins, Curtis and twin sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza created densely textured, atmospheric aural excursions for their acclaimed debut 2008 Alpinisms, a sound that the band expands upon with Desire.

"We realized something else about our music," reflects Curtis, "which is that there's this heavy quality to it, this powerful quality that we weren't really aware of because we were just writing at home. Going out and playing every night and discovering that, we got really inspired." Lead track "Babelonia" mixes mesmerizing electronic rhythms, Curtis' chiming two-chord guitar riffs and the Deheza's ethereal vocals for a stiff elixir of propulsive power, a sound that straddles gracefully lithe motion and arena-sized aural fireworks. New single "Windstorm" has a sweeping, cinematic scope, near-chanting vocals building and intertwining with buzzing synths and darting guitar lines.

"From the start, we knew we wanted to make a record that connected on more of a direct and personal level than we ever had before," says Curtis. "It's a complete account of our lives this past year, and it's crazy how taking an honest look at yourself can tell you the most about the world around you."' - Direct Current Music
